    10 days after surgery

Well as most as you all would know I had my surgery on August 08, 2006 and as you would also probably know I did well or I would not be sitting here typing this blog.  Monday, August 07, 2006 I had to bowel prep... Yikes, what a terrible horrible disgusting tasting stuff that i had to drink.  I got through the rest of the day, by mostly sitting on the toilet...  Another YIKES.  But anyway, the volunteer driver came to pick me up at 5:30 a.m. and I arrived at Henderson Hospital at 5:45 a.m.  I was admitted officially as a patient and travelled to the fifth floor were i was to have the surgery.  I got to sit in a stupid chair and kind of look comfortable... At 7:45 I was picked up by the porter and walked to the OR waiting area.  Another gruelling 10 minutes... the tears of nervousness and being scared were by now volunteering to drop from my already tired exhausted eyes.  I am thinking to myself, wow look at all these people here with other patience...  I could have had support... but there was no one around or available to come with me.

By the time I was walked into the OR I was bawling my eyes out.  Every ounce of patience and strength already drained from my body.  I had to stand near the table...  that was definitely a eery feeling, and Dr Moens then outlined the incision and cut line.  Further anxiety crept through my body and now I was trembling noticeably.  I placed myself on the table and they proceeded to try to find intro veins.  However because of the constant diahrea and lack of drinking, I had become dehydrated.  They proceeded to put the introveinous  needle in through the vein of my neck...  But however the neck was frozen before hand and that scared me even more... just the sensation and knowing it was happening was enough for me, I was uncontrollably crying by this time.  I woke up with a bandage on wrist (blood pressure needle used for surgery) bruises on inside arm, and wrist.  and a covering over my neck and a large covering over my lower abdomen.  I was taken to my room after a short stay in recovery (something I dont remember being in) and then taken to my room where I continued to sleep for several more hours.  It was painful for the first few days as it was expected.  I continue to suffer with gas pains as well as the runs.  I made a few nice friends while there. The only visitors i had were walter, pat, sandi and a very caring and supportive friend from online... Thank You - you know who you are.

    Do I have regrets?  Nope
Would I do it again? Nope, dont have to already have everything removed
Would I have wanted more visitors? Absolutely, it would have gotten me out of the hospital earlier I think
Has this surgery changed my feeling towards myself?  Absolutely, I feel no belly but there is no naval... i guess i can overcome that in time

Do I love the support that I recieved from the most important man... YES.  Walt forever in my heart, you prove to me day in and day out that you love and are devoted.
